Depth Presets for Simplified Downrigger Fishing

Speed up your downrigger trolling and depth control with this feature (This is my draft change)

Downriggers offer fishermen the distinct advantage of precise control of trolling depth, which means you can more accurately put your bait in the strike zone. In most cases, you want to cover multiple depth ranges to optimize your chances of landing more fish.

When fishing during specific times of the year or targeting different species there is a range of depths that we want to target. Getting down to those target ranges requires you to either spool out the line on a manual downrigger or press and hold a button to drop your weight with an electric downrigger.

Do you ever wish that you could drop your downrigger weight to a precise depth with one push of a button? Well, you can with the Cannon Optimum™️ Electric Downrigger and the Depth Presets feature.

What Are Downrigger Depth Presets? 

Preset Depths is a feature that allows you to store up to (5) five depth presets in your Optimum downrigger, so you can quickly put the bait back in the strike zone.

Instead of having to manually spool out your line, you’re able to simply press a button and the downrigger will do all of the work of taking the weight down to the exact depth that you’ve specified.

Depth Presets – Last Depth Recall

In the Depth Presets menu, you will notice that there is an additional sixth preset at the top of the list marked by a fish icon. This Last Depth Recall is automatically recorded before you hit Auto Up or retrieve your downrigger weight after a fish catch.

This is an extremely helpful tool when you’ve adjusted your downrigger weight’s depth based on fish marked on your sonar or where you’ve been noticing bites. 

You no longer have to remember what depth that downrigger was last set to. You simply connect your clip to the line and drop that weight right back to the previous depth where you had gotten bit. It’s as simple as that.

How to Use Depth Presets on a Cannon Optimum Downrigger

• On your Optimum downrigger, press the top left button to open the preset depths menu.
• Use the up and down arrows to navigate to your desired depth and press the right arrow key to begin the descent
